Let's compare movie vs book The Great Gatsby I have wanted to watch a movie about the great Gatsby for a long time. It all started when we watched a trailer in class (since we are reading a book) I was very excited since it was starring one of my favorite actors. Since then I wanted to watch the movie just to see how much is compared to a few chapters and characters we have read in class.    Let's talk about the casting of actors for the character.  In the movie, Leonardo DiCaprio was cast as Gatsby. which makes perfect sense to me.  Gatsby is described as  a "young man, not overly tall, not short, not fat, but with tan skin and an attractive face" so Leonardo's physical charm and overall persona really suit to be gatsby. I have experienced many interesting comments made toward me during my life. I have born and raised in Ukraine a country just next to Russia, Since Ukraine is a pretty young country, gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, a lot of people didn't know it existed.  When I came to America in 2016 moving from the only place I could call "home"  and leaving my family, it was 2 years after the crisis in Kyiv. In Kyiv 2 years ago was a brutal rebellion against the former president of Ukraine who wanted to cancel all the progress Ukraine has made toward joining nato. Viktor Yanukovych ( Former president)  has been trying to connect to Russia. This rebellion in   Euromaidan of innocent citizens who didn't want to go back to Russia or the USSR, started as a peaceful rebellion wanting freedom

Passed down trauma  Reading Maus was tough. It's interesting how much one story can influence different people around the storyteller. Artie was one of those people who got influenced by this story. During the comic book, Artie has suffered from generational trauma. Generational trauma is how one event changed a relative's behavior that influences other relatives.  While surviving the holocaust you can see many disturbing images, your friends starving to death, and the constant foreshadowing of the furnace reminding you that no matter what work you do you will end up being ash. All these memories can really mess you up as you can see in Vladek. Vladek is one of the survivalists of this awful event but it took its toll on his mental and physical health.  Vladek would constantly count his portions of pills taking this from always being hungry and never having enough food.
